It’s the little things
I don’t know who’s reading my blog . . . if anyone. I made peace with this fact some time ago. Too much going on out there, in the World Wide Web. The percentage of getting lost in the crowd is higher than the percentage of being found.
Add this fact to the speed at which everyone bounces around and you got a mute point. The reason I write is because I love to write and share my thoughts. One day, I may do something with all that I write. That day may be closer than I know but for right now, I write for me.
It’s for the sheer joy of sitting down and letting my thoughts go, then reigning them in and putting them on “paper,” that I write.
I was at a bookstore in N.Haven the other day. I love bookstores. I love the smell of books and paper, I love what books have to say, I love the way books look. You must think I’m crazy . . . but the first thing I do when I get a new book is . . . to smell it:-) The smell of a new adventure.
One of my daughters has inherited this strange habit of mine. She and I smile when we catch each other doing that. We understand each other.
Why am I writing all this? Well, I guess there are so many things that make me really happy, two of them being getting lost in a bookstore or in a garden. Simple things, really, but they make me happy. I find peace when I do what makes me happy and I wanted to share this with you, solitary reader – whoever you are.
So, go find – if you haven’t already – what makes you happy. It may be something very small and it really doesn’t matter. Invite it into your daily life, as often as you can, and it will carry you over and to the other side.
Delight in doing what you like and do it often. Imagine a world where people actually do what makes them happy. What a world that would be!
